1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Account information — your name, email address, and authentication data provided when you sign up via Clerk.
• Content you create — character profiles, manuscript excerpts, scene context, and chat messages you generate within Inkborne.
• Usage data — message counts, subscription tier, and feature usage to enforce plan limits and improve the product.
• Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card details.
• Uploaded files — manuscript files you upload for character extraction are processed and then discarded. We do not store your manuscript files.
• API keys — if you provide your own OpenRouter API key (Architect tier), it is stored encrypted and used solely to make requests on your behalf.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide, operate, and improve the Inkborne service
• To process payments and manage your subscription via Stripe
• To enforce usage limits based on your subscription tier
• To send transactional emails (account verification, payment receipts) via Clerk and Stripe
• To respond to support requests
• We do not sell your data. We do not use your content to train AI models.

3. AI Processing

Inkborne uses the Anthropic Claude API and optionally OpenRouter to generate AI responses. Content you submit — including character descriptions, scene context, and chat messages — is sent to these third-party AI providers to generate responses. This content is subject to their respective privacy policies:

We do not use your content to fine-tune or train any AI models. Your characters and stories belong to you.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Supabase, a managed PostgreSQL database hosted on AWS. We use row-level security to ensure users can only access their own data. Authentication is managed by Clerk. We use industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest.

Manuscript files uploaded for character extraction are processed in memory and are not persisted to our database or storage.

5. Adult Content

Inkborne offers adult and explicit content features for users who are 18 years of age or older and have opted into these features. By enabling adult content settings, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. 6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Clerk — authentication and user management
• Supabase — database and storage
• Stripe — payment processing
• Anthropic — AI text generation
• OpenRouter — optional AI model access
• Vercel — hosting and deployment

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Export your content (use the Export feature in any scene)
• Opt out of any non-essential communications

8. Cookies

Inkborne uses cookies and local storage for authentication (Clerk), session management, and user preferences (theme, font size). We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice on the site or sending an email to your registered address. Continued use of Inkborne after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
